Popup Trigger From WP Menu Item?

Hi …

I’m trying to get a popup to be triggered by a WP menu item. The menu item will appear on every page, so I can’t assign a dedicated URL because then I’m just taken to that URL even if I include my popup ID class #signup. If I use just # in the URL field & the pop up class, I get just # added to the current page URL & nothing happens.

Is there a way to do this? I wish there were a dedicated URL format to trigger a popup … then this would be easy—it wouldn’t go to a page URL, it would just open the popup no matter what page you were on.

Any ideas?
