Possible Exceptions?

Web calendars aren’t working right now. The feeds for WordPress news, etc. are also not coming up in
the dashboard. The error says this:

RSS Error: WP HTTP Error: A valid URL was not provided.
RSS Error: WP HTTP Error: SSL certificate problem: unable to get local issuer certificate

We just got a new filter, and I think it might need some type of exception to allow this to work, or SSL exception.
Does anyone know offhand just what might need to be available to make this work? Or if I am going in a different direction with this, than need be?

Update:

Now, we are getting the events feed pulled, but the styles aren’t working (date graphic, etc.). They are working at home, off our network.
