    Hello,

We would like to report an issue that we have been observing over the past few weeks.

During this time, we noticed that some images and media files in our WordPress / WooCommerce installation started disappearing. A portion of these files later reappeared, but many of them seem to have disappeared permanently.

At the same time, we observed changes in the server’s media file structure. For example, new folders organized by month and year began appearing again, even though this structure had not been used previously. It looks like some kind of file reorganization or rewriting may have taken place on the server.

Because of this, we suspect that something may have triggered file movements or database updates related to the media library. One possibility we are investigating is whether the Folder plugin might perform any background restructuring, synchronization, or reorganization of files or media records.

    Could you please clarify:

    • Does the plugin perform any operations that reorganize files or recreate folder structures on the server?
    • Could the plugin trigger file moves, database updates, or media library synchronization that might affect existing files?
    • Are there any known issues or situations where files could temporarily disappear or fail to restore correctly?

Unfortunately, a large number of media files never returned, so we are trying to understand what might have caused this behavior.

Any insights or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

Hello, fellow Folders user, to my knowledge the folders are not physical so they shouldn’t be able to delete your files – I recently had a similar problem coming from an image optimization plug-in, you may want to check this

    Hey there @eugenembzb,

Thanks for reaching out and I’m sorry to hear this!

Please note that the Folders plugin does not delete files from the database or the server. It only organizes content within the WordPress admin for better visibility and management. Any actual file deletion would need to be done separately through WordPress, hosting tools, or another plugin.

To help us determine whether the issue is related to the Folders plugin, we recommend creating a copy of your website (for example, a staging site or a backup version) and testing it without the Folders plugin installed.

Once the copy is created, please deactivate or remove the Folders plugin from that version of the site and check if the issue still occurs.

Please let us know how it goes, and we’ll be happy to take a closer look. You can also reach us through the live chat widget on our website, https://premio.io, if you need live assistance!
