For the last 3 days I have been average about 300 “New User Registrations” per day. I think I have a good blog, but I am sure there are not that many people suddenly getting interested in it.

I don’t want to have to approve each person before they join. In fact, in this case, I probably couldn’t tell who is real and who isn’t.

Is there something going on with WordPress that could be causing this? Is there anything I can do to make sure I’m not slowly doing something terrible to my blog by allowing all of these new subscriptions.

    Thanks for the help

Yes most of them are spam registers that bot signs up you need lock it so that only humans can register and one way to do that is install this plugin as I am using it on my website and I get zero spam signup and no spam comments.

Thanks for the tip… It appears to be helping. Today, before the plugin, I was getting about 20-25 registrations per hour.. after add the plug-in you suggested, I only had 2 in the last hour.

Thanks again for the excellent advice.

I have had this problem before. If it continues, you may need to make the change below:
In Settings>>General>>Membership un-check “Anyone can register”
