Possible to export corrupt table?

    Hi,

    We’re having trouble with a client using this plugin — often times, after they make edits to their table, they get the “[ERROR] THE TABLE DATA IS CORRUPTED! DO NOT EDIT THIS TABLE NOW! Instead, please ask for support at http://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/plugin/tablepress” message.

    I would like to export the table data and view it as html, to inspect it for errors. When I try to do that, the only thing that exports is that error message itself, with none of the table data.

    What is the recommended course of action in this situation?

    Hi,

    thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

    I’m sorry to hear that you are affected by corrupted tables. My assumption here is that another plugin is influencing the saving process, and for example breaks the quotation marks (") in links or other HTML code in the table.

    Exporting the data is not possible, as the corruption means that it can not be read (“parsed”) from the database. Therefore it can not be read and given to the exporter.

    Now, to find out what caused this, we’ll need to find out what actually got corrupted, by taking a look at the raw table data in the database (before it is parsed). This can be done in the database, by taking a look at corresponding entries in the “wp_posts” table, where TablePress stores the tables as “Custom Post Type”.

    If you want, I’ll gladly take a look at this directly, and likely I’ll be able to use a Debug plugin that I’m working on right now. In order for me to try that, please contact me via email (which you can find in the main plugin file “tablepress.php”).

    just for everybody:
    I have worked with plugins_lexblog to find the cause for this. Thanks to him and his company to be very helpful with testing and debugging this issue!

    The problem is now fixed as part of the 0.8.1-beta version of TablePress, so updating is recommended.
