• Hi All

After an embarassingly large amount of time (think days) installing and reinstalling wordpress and talking to go daddy and bribing the tech-savy neighbour with cake and coffee, I have word press installed.

At first I got an FTP error message and was advised to move the contents of the wp file into the root directory. Did that and can now see the sites live.

However latest problem is that when I log into WP I get a ‘this page cannot be found’ message.

does any body have any suggestions on how I can finally get my install up and running 🙂

    Thanks from one tired kiwi

  • Don’t know why an FTP error message would be resolved by changing directories but guess that’s another story.

Sounds like you moved WordPress after it was installed. I’d say you may want to look through http://codex.ww.wp.xz.cn/Moving_WordPress

Also, consider using phpMyAdmin to make sure your wp_options table has the correct values in siteurl and home.

siteurl is your WordPress address (URI) and home is your Blog Address (URI).

Another option is to visit http://install4free.wordpress.com/ and ask that WordPress be installed for you.

Thanks for the comments. I will give it all a go later today and let you know if I find success!
