    Hello,

I’ve used the Post SMTP plugin since many years ago, and so far it works amazingly! However, since several days ago, some of the sites that I manage show a critical error message (with WP Debug on):

Warning: require_once(/home/anuger68/public_html/wp-content/plugins/post-smtp/Postman/PostmanOptions.php): failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/anuger68/public_html/wp-content/plugins/post-smtp/Postman/Postman.php on line 59

Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required ‘PostmanOptions.php’ (include_path=’/home/anuger68/public_html/wp-content/plugins/post-smtp/includes/libs/HTMLPurifier:.:/opt/alt/php74/usr/share/pear’) in /home/anuger68/public_html/wp-content/plugins/post-smtp/Postman/Postman.php on line 59

    (screenshot: https://prnt.sc/hOhYQJ2Brz5m).

The error goes away if I manually delete the Post SMTP plugin folder from cPanel.

Please advise on how to solve this issue. Many thanks before!

    Regards,
    Nathan

    Hello @nthn92,

I hope this message finds you well.

Thank you for reaching out to our Support team. The error you’re experiencing indicates that the PostmanOptions.php file within the Post SMTP plugin is currently inaccessible due to file permission restrictions on your server.

As a first step, we recommend reinstalling the plugin:

    • Deactivate and delete the existing Post SMTP plugin
    • Then reinstall and activate it from the WordPress plugin repository

This may help reset any incorrect permissions and resolve the warning.

If the issue persists after reinstallation, we kindly suggest reaching out to your hosting provider’s support team, as they will be better equipped to adjust server-level permissions and ownership settings.

    Warm regards,
    Support Team – WP Experts

    Hello,

First, I want to thank you for this great plugin that works really great!
But lately I’m getting the error above, and I’m not sure if I should open another ticket or if I’m at the right place, since it is a Fatal Error message.
The new version isn’t working as it worked with the previous v3.1.3. and this is the error I’m getting.

    Any recommendations?

    Hello @aqibkhan9

I have tried reinstalling the plugin. At first, the fatal error was gone, but after a few days, the same issue reappeared.

You suggested to contact my hosting provider regarding the file permission restrictions. Could you please be more specific about what I should tell my hosting provider?

    Thank you in advance.

    Best regards,
    Nathan
