Hi there – Thanks for the wonderful plugin. It works very well but unfortunately configuration screens are mis-behaving. Here is what I am doing:
    1. I activate the plugin.
    2. Then I change some configurations for Home Page (I tried using Singles as well as using Home Tab – same results)
    3. After I have changed the configuration now I see only “Page” in Post Types. Rest of the post types disappear from the configuration screen. I did verify that they were all there before I configured anything for home page.

May be I am missing something. Can someone explain this behavior?

    Thanks

    -Pankaj

    Hi @pkverma99

thank you for opening a thread.
No, I don’t think you are missing anything. You are the second one reporting this issue.
Very recently also someone else reported the same issue.

I’ve tested this plugin on all kinds of installations and never seen this problem with my eyes, but surely in some situations this happens, as in your case. Probably a plugin is altering the post types detection.

    I kindly ask you:
    – the list of your plugins
    – your WordPress version
    – your theme
    – the version of Freesoul Deactivate Plugins, I suppose it’s the last one, but just to be sure

Then I will try to reproduce the problem on my installations and find the cause of this issue.

Or, if you have not sensitive data, you may export your installation with All In One WP Migration https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/all-in-one-wp-migration/, and provide me the exported file.
In this last case, you can write to me at [email protected]

    Hi @pkverma99

maybe I’ve understood what it could happen. It’s nothing related to other plugins, it’s a bug that comes up in some situations when you save the singles options or the homepage options before the other options.

    Please do the following:

    – Disable Freesoul Deactivate Plugins
    – Check that you don’t have the file wp-content/mu-pluugins/eos-deactivate-plugins.php. You should not have it, but if so, delete it
    – Update Freesoul Deactivate Plugins via FTP from the beta version you find here: https://downloads.wp.xz.cn/plugin/freesoul-deactivate-plugins.1.7.8.zip
    – Activate Freesoul Deactivate Plugins
    – Save the options in Homepage or in Singles as you have done when you found the issue
    – Let me know if you still have the issue related to the custom post types

Let me know if you have the possibility to use FTP, if not so I will suggest another solution modifying a line of code of the plugin.

Thank you Jose for the response. You are right that the bug comes only in “singles options”. In fact, I managed to find a work around which I think I would share as it may help you solve another bug.
    1. I went to the specific page & used “edit page” feature (where FDP shows up) to disable plugins. Now the plugins on the specific page gets disabled properly without messing up by “Post Type” settings on FDP.
    2. But the lock symbol (designed for override) is not saved from “edit page” :). So I went to the Singles Settings and just saved the lock symbol from Singles Settings page. Now the lock symbol got saved.

After doing the above 2, I was able to get Singles to work perfectly fine. I must say that the solution works like a charm so great job there.

Regarding zip file solution, I am afraid that I dont have that access :(. Please suggest another solution & I can modify the file that you are suggesting to see if that fixes the issue.

Please do take note of the above issue as well. I tested twice and got the same result so pretty sure about the behavior.

    Hi @pkverma99

thank you very much for all the information, I really appreciate it.

The problem with the padlock in the single editing page is caused by the other issue with the single options. Solving the single options issue also the padlock problem is solved.

The version shared with the link should fix these problems.

If that link doesn’t work, you can download it from here: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/freesoul-deactivate-plugins/advanced/

Scroll down until you find the section “PREVIOUS VERSIONS”. You will see a dropdown list.
From that list select 1.7.8 and click on “Download”.

Let me know if you still have issues.

    Hi @giuse,

Thanks for your help. I was able to download the update & tried it. Here are my findings:
    1. Singles tab in FDP Configuration screens works perfectly now. yay! and a big thank you as that is really a convenient screen.
    2. I did find an issue when I goto a Post & try configuring FDP from the Post page. I was able to do everything except getting an unlocked lock to locked position. That operation did not save when I clicked update. Then I came to FDP configuration screens -> singles and was able to do the same operation there. So no big deal but I thought you should know.

Other than that everything works just fine. Thanks so much for fixing it quickly. I would use this version for now. Wonderful plugin!

    Hi @pkverma99

you are welcome! Thank you very much for your feedback!

Can you please try again to save the padlock state on the single post page?

Saving the Singles options from the plugin control panel with the beta version theoretically should have solved the issue in the single post-editing page.

Before saving the Singles options you still had that issue because it was not a fresh installation of version 1.7.8. You had already saved the single post, but with a bug when you had 1.7.7.

This is what I can explain looking at the code. Practice many times shows that the theory is wrong and I don’t exclude you still have the issue in the single post editing page.

Please, just try again and tell me if you are still not able to save the padlock on the single post editing page.

If you still have this issue I will investigate deeper.

    Hi @giuse,

I had actually thought about that problem & hence tested with a fresh “post type” (which was never configured in the previous version) to test the lock behavior. So my findings remain the same. I did try again & it still shows the same behavior. Note that I am testing a configuration that was created with 1.7.8 and not an earlier version.

However, I found one more issue now which seems a bit more serious. I have attached a screenshot here – https://ibb.co/QmkZyn7 so you can see that Posts is appearing twice.

Let me know if this looks easy to fix. My posts settings (done with the very first row) are working so its okay for now.

    Thanks

    Hi @guise

I installed 1.7.8 on a fresh environment (my production environment) and the individual pages / posts are now behaving okay. Not sure what was wrong with my earlier tests.

Posts still shows twice as reported above. But ignore the other bug – it probably has something to do with the fact that I changed the version mid way.

    Thanks

    Hi @pkverma99

I tried to prepare the beta version in a short time because I was sure it was all ok, but I realize I had to perform more tests before to suggest it to you.

I’m working on a new beta version. Until now all the tests I have done are successful and without the issues that you have reported, but the number of tests is still not enough to say it’s stable and I’m afraid to repeat the same mistake if I suggest it to you.

Would you prefer to test the new beta version or to wait a couple of days for a more stable version?

In the first case, I can provide it to you.

Hi @giuse – Thanks for the prompt response.

If its couple of days then I can wait. Next couple of days are really busy for me. Else I would have offered to test.

    All the best!

    Hi @pkverma99

I’ve published the new version 1.7.8.

If you haven’t changed many options, I suggest disable and delete your actual FDP version. You will lose the options.

Then install the new official version 1.7.8 from the plugins page.

If you have saved many options and you don’t want to lose them, we can see how you can remove the duplicated post type without deleting the plugin.

I’ve done many tests, with all combinations of saving order of Singles, Post Types, and single posts. For me it’s ok. But of course, let me know if you have any issues with a fresh installation.

Thanks @giuse for updating the plugin.

I would try later this week as I do have few options configured. I will have to re-install & re-configure the environment. Would keep you updated if I find any problems. I plan to use only Singles, Post Types & single posts.

Thanks again for the wonderful plugin!
