Postie not connecting

So i am having a problem with Postie since it lastest update. It was working great and we were using it with great success.

Now its not working and I have tried every arrangement of pop and imap settings for gmail but i get:

Unable to write data to POP3 server pop.gmail.com on port 995

I checked email account and password and it is correct. I used to use Sockets, but now when i test using Sockets it displayed a blank screen assumingly not processing even tests. when I change to cUrl it processes but i get the errors such as the one above.
