Posts do not display when logged out

[i really dont know the version- how would I find that??]
I have tried EVERYTHING to be able to SEE THE POSTS when logged out (ie, as the reader would see it!) AND NOTHING WORKS!

THe POSTS will not show when I am not logged in!! ALL that shows is the static page, I can go to the menu and there are the other pages – BUT NO POSTS!!!

I have spent hours trying to get the fugging POSTS to show up and NOTHING WORKS!! I have tried attributes etc (but can’t attach the posts to a parent page etc, cant seem to change POSTS’s attributes like the other pages allow)

WTF- WHY on earth would anyone make it difficult TO SHOW THE POSTS on ones wordpress site?????
