Posts won't import

I thought it strange that I was having the opposite problem most people were having. Images were importing but posts were not. In the XML file the attachments were at the top of the file and the posts at the bottom.
After several frustrating hours I ended up editing the XML file and moving the posts to the top. After doing this the import worked.
