Pre-Compression errors/garbage
-
CE v1.0.9 / WP = v4.5
When I have ‘pre-compression’ and ‘minification'(HTML) ON, I can view a page once. Then, if I load another page, it sends a blank page/error msg (in Chrome):
“ERR_CONTENT_DECODING_FAILED”
(expecting compressed content via header, but doesn’t send that way .. is what I understand this to mean?)If I turn OFF minification at this point (Pre-compression still ON) and I load page (cache clears), I see the page. I can load 1 or 2 pages following this, then I simply see garbage on screen after that.
If I turn OFF Precompression but leave ON Minification, site seems okay.
So problem seem to be centered on precompression being ON.
What seems to be the issue with precompression and why is this an option if it doesn’t work? -> (I have seen other replies here mentioning this should be turned off “if a problem”. I also see blurb in setup about this possibly not working..
“Needs to be disabled if the decoding fails in the web browser.“What’s the issue with pre-compression = ON?
Is there something I can do on my (dedicated) server to make it work correctly?
Thanks..
