You can use the code example at https://github.com/ibericode/mc4wp-snippets/blob/master/integrations/buddypress/custom-user-fields.php to add a custom field data from BuddyPress to MailChimp and then you can use that data to create custom segments in MailChimp.

This is possible even in our free version.
