Pre Purchase Question – Custom Post Types

Hi

I am looking for a directory plugin for wordpress. One that will act as a resources section for a charity intranet site.

Many of our entries will have physical locations, equally many will not.

Having done some research – the ability to add an entry without a map location can be done with the inclusion of the ‘Custom Post Types’ extension.

However, I am a little unsure – the information I have read suggests that locations still have to be set, to a city or a pin on a map in the ocean to override?

With ‘Custom Post Types’ added – will I be able to add entries with no reference to any location whatsoever?

Is there anywat to test the ‘Custom Post Types’ on one of your demo sites?
