Pre-select the User Role When Using the Shortcode With Role Parameter

    Hello,

    I’ve created a Register form with “Select (User Role)” field type in it and I would expect, that when I use the shortcode [wppb-register role=”author”] the respective role will be pre-selected. It is not and in fact it seems, that the role set in the shortcode overrides whatever is selected in the User Role selector field in the form.

    Not sure wheather it’s the intended behaviour, but it’s at least a bit confusing. Is it possible to use a Select User Role field and change the pre-selected role using some parameter?

    Use case: there are 2 types of users to register, Landlord and Tenant, each one has it’s own dedicated page to register. I need to pre-select the respective user for each page (but still keep the option to change it, if a user decides so).

    I have tested this on a local instance and here is what I have found:

    The Select (User Role) field did not update to display the value added to the shortcode as the default value. However, when I registered selecting a different user role, the test user has been assigned the correct user role (the one I selected) and was not overwritten with the one from the shortcode.

    Could you please send me a screenshot of the page at Dashboard -> Plugins -> Installed Plugins? Please make sure that our plugin and it’s version is clearly visible.

    Hello,

    My fault, I had two pages with the same form and mixed them up. The role was updated correctly.

    But it would be nice to be able to control the selected role using the parameter from the shortcode.

    I have added your request to our features request list. This means that it might be implemented in a future version of our plugin. Unfortunately I cannot provide you with an estimate as to when this might be.
