Prevent role update/overwrite

I use the “Import users from csv with meta” plugin to bulk update specific Usermeta fields for existing users. I do not use it to create new users. Unfortunately, it is overwriting the user role for the users affected by the update. How do I stop the plugin from modifying existing roles during the update?
