Prevent update nag emails
-
Hi, I hope you are not getting sick of my feature requests π
I have decided on some of my sites to stay with WP 4.9.x.
I am comfortable doing this after some mods pointed out that security updates of WP core are incorporated / backported back to WP 3.7 as can be seen at https://codex.ww.wp.xz.cn/Current_events
So one obvious use of your plugin is to keep WP at 4.9.x and let the plugin only update minor versions.
The problem I have with this is that WP core then sends out an email daily or more often, that nags to update to the latest version. Something like:
Please update your site to 5.0.3
I prefer not to get emails to remind me to update WP.
Just to be clear, I am ok with getting emails that have notified me of updates that have occurred. I just donβt want to be emailed multiple times a day to let me know an update is needed.
I tried to prevent getting this specific email nag and have not been succesful – please see https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/how-to-prevent-update-nag-emails/
A different update plugin has an option to disable this particular email nag and because I cannot prevent it myself, I am forced to use this update plugin.
I see you already have an option:
Core notifications [ ] By default wordpress sends an email when a core update happend. Uncheck this box to disable these emails.
Please consider adding an option like:
[ ] By default wordpress sends an email when a core update version is available but the site has not yet been updated to this version. Uncheck this box to disable these emails.
I am sorry that I cannot help suggest the specific filter that does this….somehow that other plugin is able to do it but I have not been able to find the specific code…
I can help with what doesn’t work π at:
