Preventing spam without API integration

I’m flooded with spam from this this plugin’s contact pages, but it seems integrating to spam plugins via API might be an overkill.

Isn’t there a way to just define a human testing question (hopefully random but not necessarily) like “how many stars (not planets) surround Earth” or “are you a bot?”, etc. that prevent the mail if the answer is wrong?
