Sidebar changes do not reflect when previewing the page/post. You’ll need to update the page/post to see the changes. As with my other topics, this isn’t major also, but it would be nice if the changes are seen in previews 🙂

I hope you are well today.

Do you mean when previewing the unpublished draft post?

I have tested it on my site previewing the draft page/post and found the custom sidebar is working fine.

This may be not working on your site due to plugin/theme conflict.

So you can just try on your development site using default WordPress theme like Twenty Thirteen and deactivating all other plugins as displayed in the following flowchart to know which theme/plugin is conflicting if any.
