A previous site administrator installed SiteKit with a different tracking code than the current one. The plugin was reset and uninstalled days ago (so the administrator has changed) and has been reinstalled with the current GA4 code and tracks correctly but the previous administrator still receives data in his other GA4 account. Is this possible without having put the GA4 script directly into the source code? How can I prevent it from tracking in a different account? Thanks for your help.

Hello @rgpe, thanks for your question regarding a previous administrator being able to access the Analytics data for your newly placed property.

If a previous administrator still has access to Analytics data for the currently placed property via Site Kit, you will need to remove their access at the Analytics account level. This can’t be done from Site Kit and will need to be done at the Analytics platform.

To remove a users access to an Analytics account/property you can follow the steps outlined in this Analytics guide. I hope this helps to answer your question. If there’s anything else I can help with then please let me know.

Sorry, It is not the case. The previous administrator created his own GA4 account so the code G-xxx was different. When I reset the plugin I thought it would stop tracking but It seems It still tracks in his Analytics account. Is It posible or the old Analytics Code must be somewhere else within the web Code?

@rgpe When checking your website in the Google Tag Assistant tool, I can only see a single Analytics tag firing. The tag I am seeing is G-******YY31. is this your Analytics tag or is this the tag associated with the previous administrator and their Analytics account?

If this is the expected Analytics tag then the previous administrator should not be receiving any further Analytics data from your website. If you have the correct Analytics property configured within Site Kit and it is the property I have highlighted above then everything is configured correctly and there is nothing to be concerned about on your side.

Checking your website source code I can see that this is the Analytics property being placed by Site Kit. Everything looks correct from a Site Kit perspective at this stage. If that isn’t the expected Analytics property then you can update this by going to Site Kit > Settings > Connected Services > Analytics > Edit and choosing your desired Analytics property to connect.

The only way the previous admin will be able to receive Analytics data for your site as it stands is if they have access to your Analytics account or the property connected. I hope this helps to explain this to you but please let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks for checking all this. This is correct, this is my G-Xxx tag. And the previous administrator has not access to the current Analytics account, he showed a different account and property when he explained that his account still receives data. But if there is no possibility from recieving data from the old sitekit configuration or directly from a script within the code I supose he has only old data (until the plugin reset date). Does It make sense?
