    Hello,

My name is Nick and I’m looking to implement the Piwik stats plugin into my wordpress site but I have a few privacy concerns. Would you be able to assist me in acquiring some more information regarding these issues?

    1. On or before collecting personal information about an individual from the individual, the developer or company discloses to the individual in writing:
    a. the purposes for the collection of information
    b. the position name or title and the contact information of an employee who is able to answer individual’s questions about the collection of personal information.

    2. Does your plugin have procedures for responding to a Privacy Incident or Breach?

    3. Is the personal information collected about individuals stored outside of Canada? If it is, do you get their consent for this to take place?

The plugin does not track any data on its own. It just includes Piwik analytics to your blog. Which data is collected depends on your Piwik configuration and how you use it, e.g., you can anonymize IP addresses, add an opt-out option, etc.

You can run Piwik as an open source solution on your own servers or get a hosted version (called Piwik Pro).

To get more information on Piwik, visit http://piwik.org/ and have a look at the Piwik community forum at http://forum.piwik.org/ This way, you keep full control of all data and you are responsible on your own.

More information on Piwik Pro is available at https://piwikpro.de/ – if you use Piwik Pro, you can also access their consulting services. (Btw. Piwik web analytics is also used by the Canadian government, see https://piwikpro.de/referenzen/)

I hope, this helps. But I ask for your understanding, that I can’t give more information about Piwik itself, this support forum is related to the WordPress integration plugin only.
