    Hi there,

    New to this forum πŸ˜‰

I am building a private buddypress community that looks like this. For axemple: user roles = client, provider, guest. User groups = Gclient1, Gprovider2 and Gguest3.

I’m chasing for rules’ defintions of the Restrict User Acess plugin that match the following criteria and user experience :

    (1) By default all users are private and confidential: they cannot ‘see’ or be seen by the rest of the community unless they belong to the same group. No restrictions should apply between users of a same group.

    (2) Users of a specific group should have a tailored navigation experience: pages, posts, documents and even sidebars could be restricted to a specific group (for instance Gclient1) and different for another group (Gclient2). I plan to use a specific WP post & pages taxonomy that should help meet these criteria.

    (3) Some groups will be public and unrestricted. When a private member joins a public group, her/his ‘private’ details shouldn’t be available to other users. I’m thinking of some sort of anonymisation process.

As I see it points (1)-(2) look manageable by the plugin but I would need help to formulate the rules. Any hint about (3) would also be great.

    Thanks!

Apologies for the delayed response here.

Unfortunately there is currently no built-in integration like that between Restrict User Access and BuddyPress.

It is possible to restrict access to all/specific BuddyPress profiles, but it is not possible to say that users in BBP group 1 cannot see the profiles of members in BBP group 2 (without custom coding).

I am planning to make a synchronization between Access Levels and BBP groups (so if a user is member of group 1, they will also be a member of level 1), which could solve (1) and (2), but there is no ETA on this feature.

    Thanks for your reply Joachim,

Please let me know about this latest development when you have a chance.

In the meantime any hint about custom code that would restrict private groups into confidential spaces would be more than welcome.

    Best regards,
    Jacques
