Hello, I want to create a board for offers and requests without publicizing contact details, instead the registered users shall be able so send and receive messages on our site with a basic messaging system. They have to be notified about new messages by email.

Is this in any way possible with Directorist?

Do you mean communication between listing owner and users? If yes, we do have an paid extension for that (https://directorist.com/product/directorist-live-chat/), please kindly get in touch with our support if you have more question regarding this: https://directorist.com/contact.

If you mean communication between site owner and users, then we only have one way (site owner to users) communication available. You can send email/announcments to your site users from Settings > Advanced > Tools > Announcments.
