    Hi Tom,

I have used Pro Framework-child years ago as the original legacy theme in my Sandprops.com WordPress website. Admittedly, up until now, I have neglected routine maintenance. However, my website is under bot attack requiring me to clean up my act.

    Bluehost is my hosting service.

However, I have run into a problem with the theme in attempting to upgrade to the updated PHP version. If there is an update Pro Framework-child theme, I would appreciate your assistance in retrieving it.

    Regards,

    Chuck Sanders

    Hi there,

I’m not sure I understand your question, and what do you mean by “Pro Framework-child theme”?

    Let me know 🙂

The Pro Framework-child theme you are using is not part of the default WordPress themes, so updates for it would come directly from the theme developer. If you have not already, check whether the theme’s original source or developer site still provides updates.

Before making any PHP version changes, I recommend creating a full backup of your site files and database. That way you can restore if the theme or plugins are not compatible. You can also review Tools → Site Health in your dashboard for additional compatibility notes.

If the theme is no longer supported, one option is to move your customizations into a newer child theme based on a currently maintained framework or parent theme. That will make sure your site stays secure and works properly on updated PHP versions.

I’ve checked with our dev team, and confirm that the pro framework was a theme Tom created before GeneratePress.

Unfortunately, there won’t be any updates or support for the legacy theme.

You can try using our GeneratePress theme instead, and make sure you backup your site before changing the theme.

If you’re updating the Pro Framework, make sure you also keep your child theme intact. Always update the parent theme first and then check if any customizations in the child theme need adjustments. A good practice is to back up your site before applying updates, so you can quickly restore if anything breaks.
