Hi @johnwwweissberg
A couple of questions:
- “Could you click the ‘Connection Settings’ button and share a screenshot of the enabled Gmail API scopes?”
This is crucial because the error suggests an API issue, and insufficient scopes are a common cause of API sending failures even when OAuth authentication succeeds.
- “Have you completed both the ‘Sender Details’ and ‘Mail Server’ tabs before reaching the Confirmation step?”
The screenshots show the user on the Confirmation tab, but we can’t see if the previous required configuration steps were completed properly, which could explain the API sending failure.
If you want that information to remain private, you can also contact us via this contact form:

Yes. I configured my outbound email address and “Oauth” as the mail server type. I then selected the OAuth connection I had already established.
Here is the 2nd page of the Wizard: https://tinyurl.com/2adfsbwv

I built a 2nd WordPress installation and had the exact same trouble configuring outbound emails via Google.
- I was able to configure and verify the OAuth connect
- When attempting to configure the outbound mail, I saw error: verification failed
I was able to solve the problem. It was my mistake.
