Are you trying to automatically upload all the plugins?
You will need to update manually there are instructions here

Thank you for the help. I upgraded manually and everything went fine.
Still I don’t understand why it does not work automatically. I have two WordPress sites, and only one gives this strange information.

You may have had a connection problem and the automatic update gave error.
No,I don ‘t think it is a connection problem. It has been so since the beginning. The connection has always been good when I work with WSFTP. My other site (at the same hosting company) does not give the problem, there I can update and istall plugins etc. via the dashboard.
I fear I have to learn to live with it 🙂

These types of FTP issues appear to be server specific and probably relate to the individual server configurations.
