• I just installed WordPress. I tried to delete the Hello Dolly plugin and the next screen asks me for my FTP information. I’ve never seen that before. Why would I need to do that?

Also … I tried to install a plugin by uploading it. The upload is very slow, slower than normal, and then I get the following message:

“Unable to create directory /home/bcmeet/public_html/wp-content/uploads/2012/04. Is its parent directory writable by the server?”

I’ve never seen this before either. I’ve never had to change permissions after installing WordPress. Why am I getting this message and how do I fix this? Is this something to do with my server?

    Thank you,
    Ben

Thanks, but that doesn’t help much.

    Anyone else?

This domain/account is on my VPS. I have other WordPress sites as well and haven’t experienced this before.

    Govpatel’s advice is on target.

“Unable to create directory /home/bcmeet/public_html/wp-content/uploads/2012/04. Is its parent directory writable by the server?”

I have other WordPress sites as well and haven’t experienced this before.

That’s caused by a file/directory permission problem or ownership problem.

If you can, reset your directory permissions. If you can’t then as Govpatel said check with your host provider.

Same problem. But I have my own hosting on home-pc, what should I do?
