• pls, somebody built a website using wordpress and saved the site in a folder(as in offline work using a localserver). after working on the site, he gave me the folder to do some update for him. all the files of the site are in the folder. i have copied the folder into my system and localserver(wamp).
now, my problem is whenever i activate the particular theme he used in wordpress, i dont get to see the work he has done. i only see the default theme he used.
pls, what do i do to see or load all the work he has done so i can update from where he stopped?

  • A) If you have already imported the database as well as copying the files, ask your friend if he was using a child theme. If so, that’s the one you need to activate.

    B) If you are talking about content – images, posts, pages, media, etc..
then you need will also to import a copy of the database. WordPress stores all of it’s content – including links to media/images – in the database, not in the files. Some reference material that may be helpful: Moving WordPress
