Problem making custom pagetemplate with posts

I’m using a child theme of twenty fourteen and i want the homepage to display a page first and than the regular blogposts.

So I figured I could make a custom page template, but I can’t get it to work. I got to the point where I made an empty pagetemplate with a new name and uploaded it.

I tried copy pasting code from archive.php, page.php and/or index.php. But there is not a single combination that seems to work (when I make a page with the new template the page is completely white (no sidesbars, no nothing just white).

I have read the documentation from wordpress on templates, but I just don’t get what I do wrong.

At this moment I have a completely blank templatefile, so any help would be great.

What I want is: my normal header, footer and sidebars. Just a piece of content that consists of a page with the regular blogfeed underneath it.

What do i do?
