    Hi There,
I’ve been working on a site using the Neve theme (free) on my localhost through MAMP. Everything has been going great, but it’s getting to the point that I’ll need to give the client access to the site during meetings. So, I downloaded Local by Flywheel so I could take advantage of their live link feature.

In order to get my site into Local I used the Duplicator plugin and created a backup zip file package which I downloaded and dragged into Local.

The problem is, all of my customization in Neve is disappears when accessing site through Local. Header, footer, custom colors and images etc. Everything I did in Elementor to build pages is intact though (except colors etc). Site on localhost is still fine.

In addition, I got an error message when trying to use “live link” in a browser. So, I deactivated the plugin “elements kit lite” since the error seemed to indicate that was the problem. I then tried reloading the site into “local by flywheel” and now live link works, but still customization is broken.

I then tried this with another site that I’ve been working on in localhost with a different theme and everything was fine. That’s how I determined it must be an issue with Neve theme.

Do you have any insight into this? I searched the forums, but no one seems to have the same problem. I’m hoping it’s something simple that I’m missing. This is my first time building a site locally in this manner. It makes me nervous that the site will break when it comes time to take it live.

The link I posted is to a screenshot of the error message I received, site is not live yet, so I can’t post, but uploaded this image to my personal blog site to share, maybe it helps?

    Thanks and Happy New Year!
    Amy

  • Hi, Amy, I’m just another user of the user of the Neve theme but I thought I would offer a suggestion: if it is possible, try looking in your phpMyAdmin or use an equivalent WordPress database plugin to search through your database and look for the option value that would contain the customizations you made from the customizer.

They should be contained in an option called theme_mods_neve in your options table.

I have attached an image of what I’m talking about below:

Maybe the database option value is not being carried over when you transfer it, although I’m not sure.

@plantprogrammer thank so much for reaching out. I’ll try this when I’m back at my desk and let you know what I find.

    Have a good weekend!

    @plantprogrammer sorry – I checked out there for a few days 😉

I can’t even find that in myPHPadmin on my original site using MAMP with localhost. I don’t even see where the theme shows in the database. I’m a mess, lol!

I’m just trying to get the site I’ve been working on accessible to my team to share the progress. Tried ngrok, which I can’t get to download properly or unzip and so I tried local by flywheel. Which works, but then the problem above occurs. I’ve been all over the internet looking for answers. So confused. This is my first time creating a site using localhost.

Any insight would be great. Can I manually make a copy that I can drag into local?

I honestly don’t care how it gets done. So frustrating.

    Thanks.

    Hi @amys25,

If only your customizations made in Customizer are missing try to export Customizer settings and import them using this plugin: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/customizer-export-import/

    I hope it helps.
