Problem when changing Text in a Text Block

I am using a theme with a parent/child setup called Themeforest which is no longer being supported by the developer.

On my home page there is a text block which reads (…of the 18,000 financial advisers…) I have tried changing using both the visual and code editor. Both methods change the text. My problem is when I change the text it makes the carousel above it which has 4 parts (Today, Now, Tomorrow etc) completely disappear and the page in that section is blank. How can I change text without the carousel no longer being displayed?
