Hi cjwallac are you saying that enabling the captcha in your login page does not work?
Do you have Brute force enable? If you don’t can you share your URL if your login is the normal http://www.yoursite.com/wp-admin or http://www.yoursite.com/wp-login.

No it does display, but if we leave the captcha blank it doesn’t prevent the user from logging in.
Yes and under Brute Force
– Rename Login Page is Enabled, Cooke based brute force is disabled.
– All Login Captcha’s are enabled
– Login Whiteliest is Disables
– Honeyput is enabled.
Do you have Rename Login Page is Enabled? If you do does it have a secret word? If it does why would you need a captcha when no one should now the login secret word?
Yes rename login page is Eanbled, Yes it does have a ‘secret’ word. Could this login page be index by any search engine? Are you saying both options can not be enabled at the same time?
Hi, no I am not saying both option cannot be enabled at the same time. What I am saying is that if you are the only person that knows the secret word the chances of anyone ever knowing that word is very remote. The login page with the secret word cannot be indexed by search engine.

Understand the remoteness it being an actual security concern, but there does seem to be an issue with these two options enabled at the same time.
However if you feel you need more security why don’t you enable Cookie based brute force instead?
I have both options enabled in all my websites without any issues. You might have a plugin or theme issue “conflict”.

Ok that’s a fair option to enable Cookie Based Brute Force. It is possible as I do have ‘themes’ running on the site. I will attempt to enable Brute Force and mark as resolved upon success.
Cookie based Brute Force tested and works as alternative.
