It sounds like you’ve created the database, but haven’t set the users permissions for the database.
How to do that can vary depending on what management tool you have available for creating databases. I’d suggest asking your hosting company for information on this as they’ll know the system(s) that they have available.
Are you on a shared hosting plan ? or do you manage yourself your server (dedicated or virtual) ? or maybe is it a local installation on your computer ?
How do you create your database ?
Virginie,
There are three cases can be there-
1. Create database and a user under this database.
2. If you already created the database then create a user with marking on all privileges.
3. If you have created the database and user both then just add your user to the database with all privileges.
Hope this could help.
Stay WordPressing!
Hi,
I’m just at the very beginning.
I created my database, it appears as created
Error is showing….Can’t select database
We were able to connect to the database server (which means your username and password is okay) but not able to select the wordpress database.
Are you sure it exists?
Does the user webmaster have permission to use the wordpress database?
On some systems the name of your database is prefixed with your username, so it would be like username_wordpress. Could that be the problem?
Pls guide me in this

As you’ll note, posts in other people’s threads get missed, as yours did.
Please start a new thread. I’m sure you’ll get an answer more quickly if you do.
You should also mention the name of your web hosting company. At first glance, it looks like your database name differs from the one you told WordPress during the install.
