it’s hosted at hostnexus. i’ve used parallels control panel to set up the data base.
i downloaded, unzipped and then ftp’d using transmit the files to the server. of which a variety of others show up when i upload them. /index-backup.html so i know that the domain name has propagated to the server. yet the wordpress files don’t show.
what is name of your root folder

httpdocs
i have wordpress installed in the root
Are wordpress files and folders inside httpdocs
Do you have any other website in root http://www.johnhartfiction.com/ as i see some other website if so you will need to install wordpress in a folder as you can not have two index files in one folder

can i not have the index.html file in there as i develop the wordpress in the root folder? b/c i believe the error may be in my file permissions settings. as i just recalled i was having a tough time changing them. i would type in 755 and it kept resetting to 775.
If you want to test wordpress then you can install in a folder and then when ready either move or use it from directory
