Problem with menu
-
Hello, since a few days I’ve found some missing menu and sub-benu voices. I tried disabling all the categories and themes and reverting back to the original brand new installation and the plug in causing problem is the qtranslator-X.
Basically it removes some category voices from the menu and it won’t let me add new elements to the menu from the appearance admin panel. I’ve been working on a fix all day but nothing worked so far.
I had to change all the categories from the menu into custom links and now some of them are working and some are not.
I tried changing the plugin files to the older version when the problem wasn’t there but it still doesn’t work so I updated it to the latest version. Here are some screenshots of the various phases of the error.
Menu from the admin panel with all the voices how they should be:

http://imgur.com/51B9wybAfter changing deactivating all the plug ins and the theme, I’ve changed all the voices of the menu from category to custom links and then reactivate the theme and the plug ins again. Then I tried to leave some of the voices into categories and this is what I see now.

This is the url of my website: http://www.gacktitalia.com
I really need the navigation to work fully or the site won’t be surfable by my viewers so it’s kind of urgent.
Waiting to hear from you.

I increased it to 5800, still no change π
.htaccess file are you sure this is done in the right place?
Was there a difference before you adjust the .htaccess file?
See for example this topic:
https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/number-of-menu-items-error?replies=8I’ve contacted my provider again to see how can I modify those files you listed in the topic you just liked to me. Thanks! I’ll let you know
I created a file .user.ini following the instruction in the link you gave me. I added php_value max_input_vars = 4800 iin it. Still no change
I tried to switch from category sub menu to custom link sub menu, now with the custom link to the category url it shows up. But this is something I think you should want to see to improve in your next update since it’s the plug in causing this problem.
phooey….
another option is (if you have not already done) Remove the complete menu.
Build it again one by one, save it after each main menu entrance with sub-menus and check it on your site.
See where it goes wrong.I’ve tried that like 4 times but it still didn’t work π and it’s very weird. Anyway now with the voices as custom links it works. I just copied the category url and added it as custom link instead of category; it’s a workaround the problem, not perfect but for now it works!
the missing menu links are only categories????
If so, do you have filled the category names in both languages?
Do you use qTranslate Slug?
Yes the missing voices were only categories and only some of them. The names are filled in both languages and no I’m not using qtranslate slug right now. could that be the problem?
and no I’m not using qtranslate slug right now. could that be the problem?
No, the opposite π
Yes the missing voices were only categories and only some of them.
Can you see a difference by those who work and those who not?

No there’s absolutely no difference π
I’d still like to know what the problem is…
Can you make a complete copy of your site including the database?
Do you know how to do that?
Hello, may I chime in and tell you that I have *precisely* the same problem.
All in a sudden (sorry for being not more precise but I just noted it today and am not sure when it started) the menu items being a category and all it’s sub-items do not show up anymore. Disabling qtranslate-x brings back all items & sub-items but of course makes the pages unreadable :-/I also tried the suggested modification of max_input_vars via .user.ini but that didn’t change a thing.
Is there already a solution?I might add that reverting back to 3.4.4 resolved the problem temporarily … at the end I guess it’s better if it is solved at the source π
Menu does not show items that do not have translation to the current language. Do your missing items have translations in the current language? Re-save them to ensure that all translations are entered. That would be my best guess for now.
