Problem with plugin SlimStat Analytics
-
Hello,
I have a problem with the plugin. I don’t see any data in the dashboard. It just looks like the plugin has crashed. I updated WordPress and other plugins. I tried to reinstall the plugin but I get a problem.
Installation failed: Could not copy file. wp-slimstat/languages/wp-slimstat-sv_SE.po
I get this message when I try to reinstall.
Can anyone help me?

Hello @lanter56,
Thanks for reaching out, and sorry for the trouble.
The issue with no data on the dashboard is often due to a conflict with other plugins. Please try deactivating all plugins except WP SlimStat, clear your cache, and check again. Caching plugins especially can cause this issue.
The installation error likely relates to file permissions on your server. If possible, connect via FTP, remove the plugin, and check that folder permissions are set to 755 and file permissions to 644. Then, try reinstalling the plugin.
Let us know how it goes!
Best regards,
MehmetHello @gandomi
I did what you wrote, I mean what is in the first paragraph, i.e. clearing the cache and disabling the plugins. Unfortunately, it didn’t help. Do you have any other ideas?
Hi @lanter56,
Thank you for trying those steps.
If possible, please also try the second suggestion—changing the file permissions.
It’s important to ensure the correct permissions are set, as incorrect settings might prevent data from being recorded properly.
This could potentially cause issues not only for our plugin but for others as well.Let me know how it goes!
Best regards,
MehmetI do all installations, reinstallations, and plugin tests on stanging. I don’t do it on the main page because once someone (from forum) told me to make changes and then the whole page crashed. I don’t know how to do what you wrote in the second paragraph on stanging. I have no guarantee that it will work, and you yourself wrote that there may be problems with the page later.
Hi @lanter56,
Thank you for your reply, and I appreciate your caution.
Just to clarify, when I mentioned that incorrect file permissions could cause issues, I meant that they can affect not only WP SlimStat but also other plugins on your site.
This is why it’s important to make sure the permissions are set correctly—it helps avoid broader problems across your installation.Since you’re working on a staging site, it’s a safe environment for making these kinds of adjustments.
Also, most hosting providers take regular backups of your site, and you can usually create a manual backup from your hosting control panel before making any changes—just as an extra precaution.if you’re unsure how to proceed, your hosting provider can help check and adjust the permissions.
Let me know how it goes, and feel free to reach out if you need further help.
Best regards,
MehmetHello,
What exactly should I ask the host regarding the operation of the wp slimstat plugin?
What exactly should I ask the host about the wp slimstat plugin? Can you recommend a programmer who can fix it for a reasonable price?
Hi @lanter56,
Thank you for following up.
If you’re contacting your hosting provider, here’s what you can ask them:
“Can you please check and ensure that the file and folder permissions on my WordPress installation (especially for the
wp-content/plugins/wp-slimstatfolder) are set correctly? Folders should be set to755and files to644. I’d also like to make sure there are no server-side restrictions (like mod_security or firewall rules) that could be blocking SlimStat from collecting or saving analytics data.”This will help rule out any server-level issues that could interfere with the plugin’s functionality.
