Problem with themes

    I’m a newbie to WP and having a huge problem with any and all themes. No matter what theme I activate, the page never looks like the template. I tried the Twenty Fourteen instructuion page and couldn’t get anything similar. I’m using Argent theme now for the 3 column layout, I use static front page and only get a very simplistic single column. The site is http://www.andorpress.com
    I’ve done endless searches on this forum and I can’t solve this and I’m going crazy – thanks for any help!
