Hi @brittagoertz
I have tried to replicate the scenario and noticed the events do not get cancelled in my local site when I try to duplicate events using the clone or new draft option.
I installed and activated the WP event manager plugin and then created a test event. I used the clone and new draft option to create duplicate events. I noticed both of the events are set as draft.
Are you following the same process? Is there a specific set of steps that I am missing?

Hi @611shabnam
Thank you for your reply – I must have missed it.
The problem still occurs.
Let me explain a little more in detail:
The events I would like to clone have all expired and are therefore found in the “expired” event tab. It seems to me that all features of the event are duplicated, including the expiration. This is unfortunate, since my client has re-occurring events but new events are only set long after the old event has expired. (What I mean is, I can’t duplicate the event before it has expired).
Here is a funny thing: I found out that the “clone” and “new draft” function that is found on the right side of the event listings creates that problem. However, the “clone” function in the dropdown menu on the left side above the event list does not have that problem. Those events are saved to draft and are not marked as “expired”. So I have a workaround. After saving the draft, I automatically get pushed to my blog posts listing – instead of back to the event listing. So the behaviour is still kinda funky.
Am I missing any settings? Would you mind trying to re-create the problem cloning expired events?
Thanks y lot!
Britta
Hi @brittagoertz
Thank you for the response. You mentioned, the expired events are only getting canceled when you use the clone or New draft from the right side of the event. I completed the following steps:
- I created an event and set the expiration date to June 20th, 2024. Published the event.
- Using the clone and draft option from the right side of the event lists, I created duplicate events. I noticed the event is duplicated but the status is not canceled for the duplicated events.
What’s next?
Can you kindly check conflict?
Please test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin. This plugin has a troubleshooting mode, which does not affect normal visitors to your site. In troubleshooting mode, kindly enable only Yoast Duplicate Post and WP event manager plugin and switch to a default theme like Twenty Twenty Two. Then check if the issue exists.
Kindly create backup before you check conflict. We recommend creating regular backups of your site and database for your site’s health and safety. A backup is crucial before installing, updating, or removing plugins and provides you with a safety net if something were to go wrong.
