Hi @mcaso,
Glad you reached out, here. First, a note that this particular error normally doesn’t prevent donations from coming in, and so you shouldn’t worry about that.
Next, We’ve seen stalled database updates on a handful of customer sites. Here’s a document we wrote outlining all the ways we’ve seen that worked to correctly process the database updates: https://givewp.com/documentation/core/frequent-troubleshooting-issues/handling-database-update-issues/
In the vast majority of cases, our customer issues are resolved following the steps there.
If you are not able to resolve the issue using the solutions there, let me know and we can keep digging in, here.

Hi Ben
Thank you so much for your message.
Here my comments: I have WP-Optimize – Clean, Compress, Cache, I deactivate it ,but I was not able to update the DB in Give plugin.
I have an antispam plugin: Cleartalks I deactivate but I does not work.
I don’t have Wordfence. My .htacess seems to be ok.
So far the issue is still there.
Thank you for your help

Hello
I saw that now there is a new version for Give ( 2.9.6) I want to update this one, to see if my problem with the DB is solved but it says that this version has not been tested with my WP version ( which is WP 5.6) . It is safe to update?
Thank you so much in advance
Marcela
Hi Marcela,
Yes, it’s safe to update to GiveWP 2.9.6 if you are using WP 5.6.
The database update routine will stall if you have donations with missing data.
Go to Donations -> Donations, and check if there are any donations with missing dors or not assigned to any form.
If there are donations not assigned to any form, what you can do is assign them to a form, the run the database update routine again.

Sorry Rick for the late reply.
I assigned to a form some transactions, clear the cache and it worked!!!
Hi. I had the same issue.
After repeated attempts to “update” the database, I checked and found there were a few dozen empty “donations” for $0 which I will assume are spam (there were no donors) so I removed those and tried again and it eventually worked.
Seems like enough people are having this same problem that maybe some better error messaging is in order.

Hi @efishinsea
I did what the developer told me “If there are donations not assigned to any form, what you can do is assign them to a form, the run the database update routine again.” and it worked!
