• Normally automatic updates work fine, failing that updating from within wp-admin has always worked. Today I’m getting the following error:

    Could not copy file.: wordpress/wp-includes/js/masonry.min.js

It might be because my site’s containing folder isn’t called ‘wordpress’ ? However it’s always updated fine before. I’ve looked for the problem file in my equivalent folder using FTP, but it doesn’t seem to exist.

Should I copy over the missing file or should I go for a complete manual install of 3.9?

Also couldn’t access wp-admin.php today (was fine yesterday), renamed ‘better-wp-security’, which allowed me access to admin. Don’t know if these two things have anything to do with each other – mentioned just in case. May have to abandon BWPS/iThemes as losing wp-admin.php has happened before because of this plugin. No idea why??

If anyone can advise me on the 3.9 update, that would be great!!!

    Cheers!

Rather than risking another file missing or not being updated can you please make a backup (backups are your friend) and try the manual update instruction?

Thanks, will do! I wondered if that might bet the safest option.

    Cheers.

Hmmm… I logged out to start the manual update via FTP, then logged back in to deactivate the plugins as per the instructions. This time when I logged in, it says there is no update pending and that I’m running 3.9 – I even clicked to ‘check again’. It says it’s fine…but honestly, I haven’t done anything since I posted my original comment, not even content edits.

Do you think I should re-install manually anyway, or leave well alone?

Leave it be. Don’t try and fix if it ain’t broke. 🙂

    Good call (I hoped you’d say that…)
