Deactivate all plugins, revert to the default theme and try to upload images.
BTW, you are running a very old version of WordPress (3.0.1), and possibly your themes, plugins, etc. also may not be updated for long. Try to update them all to their latest versions.
Hi there,
Thanks for the quick reply.
Plugins: There are only two active plugins: Gold Cart for WP e-Commerce and mySTAT. Deactivating mySTAT makes no difference. Deactivating Gold Cart makes the whole store section on the website disappear!
Reverting to the default theme makes no difference.
I’ve tried to update to the most recent version of WordPress, but received this error:
Could not create directory.: /home/poppiesc/public_html/wp-content/upgrade/wordpress-3.tmp
Installation Failed
Anything else I can try?
Also, now seeing this message above the thumbnail preview on WP:
Warning: getimagesize(/home/poppiesc/public_html/wp-content/uploads/wpsc/product_images/thumbnails/DSCF7534-2.JPG) [function.getimagesize]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/poppiesc/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-e-commerce/wpsc-admin/includes/display-items-functions.php on line 1129
Before you do anything more, backup your site – see:

You can do a manual backup using FTP to copy files and phpMyAdmin to copy the database.
Hello, What I can tell you about those bothering “failed to write/failed to open” is that they often relate to your php version, if you are running plugins or a theme that runs below php 5, then in php 5 you are going to get many of this errores, try downgrading php. Greetings.
