    Hi all,

So, I am on the steep learning curve of learning how to use WordPress properly. I’ve had the advantage that I’ve had a WordPress.com blog for a while now and I had the bright idea of upgrading to ww.wp.xz.cn and having a multisite with all of my projects on it. So far I’ve successfully imported my old blog, but I’ve hit a snag with Multisite.

I followed the instructions here: http://codex.ww.wp.xz.cn/Create_A_Network and I got to the end of Step Three with no problems. Now though when I go onto my Dashboard I don’t have the Network menu anywhere in sight yet when I go to Network Setup it says “Warning: An existing WordPress network was detected.”

I am probably doing something stupid, but I can’t work out what it is. Any ideas? My only thought is that maybe I mucked up entering in the Network Details, but I would’ve thought that if I did then there would be some sort of error message.

    Thank you!

    Owen

Depending on how you mucked it up…

So you put the ONE line in, refresh, put the rest of the lines in, log back in?

(Just to make sure I’m not missing anything, I installed a clean 3.8.1 and built a network following those directions without any errors.)

Turned out to be a dead simple fix. Instead of replacing all of the code in .htaccess I left the bit at the top and bottom. Now it appears to work fine!

Yeah, I’ve emboldened the word REPLACE in 3.9 for that 🙂 Should cut down on that error.
