Problems with 2.6 and 2.7.
-
Since installing 2.6, I’ve had some rather strange problems and wondered if anyone else was experiencing these.
1. Links… If I put more than one link into an article using the HTML editor, they get corrupted, with the actual text and link ‘messing up’. For example, I recently tried to make a link for http://www.vitamix.com. the link went in fine, however, upon adding either bold text somewhere else in the post, or the second link to another site, the first link appeared like this om<< and in the blog, visitors would see om<<.
2. Bold… If I used the visual editor or the HTML editor to make text bold, it correctly added the strong tags, however, like the image links, you would see the text in bold, followed by several < marks. Sometimes, indeed often, the closing strong tag would be moved to the end of the paragraph, rather the end of the selected text, making the entire paragraph bold.
3. Italics… the exact same thing happens with Italics, except that in this case, some of the text disappears. In an article about Champagne, I wanted to italicize “cuvée”. At first, it worked nicely. But then, suddenly, that word blended unexpectedly with the next one so that readers would see cuvéesmade<< which should have read “cuvée is made”. The same problem occurs even in text without unique characters. Invariably, the closing “em” tag can be found further down the page, resulting in italics everywhere.
4. Lists… I gave up entirely using lists of any kind. In the same Champagne article, once the
- tag is applied, it totally messed up everything after it on the page, literally deleting words, paragraphs any anything else it didn’t like.
5. Images… The Champagne article is an old one, formerly in an article text file. To get it into WordPress, I copied from the original text file, pasted it first in Notepad (to strip out any odd characters or code), then recopied and pasted into WordPress. I did not include any image links. When I went to add images, I used the links to existing images on my site, rather than uploading. In the visual editor, everything seemed normal and nice. Except that when I viewed the page, only the first two were visible. On revisit to the HTML editor everything was there as it should be, but clicking back to the visual editor, only the top two images remained. Additionally, the sudden and unexpected removal of the images by WordPress from the article also took with it some of the text. A line “Long aging is” became “ng is”. I did a test by uploading an image, rather than linking to it… same problems with missing text and missing images with the third image.
I’m not sure if these are bugs, some sort of problems on my own machine or server related. Has anyone any other, similar experiences or answers?
Same thing after upgrading to 2.7. In fact, it became worse, not better.
