Hi there! I am getting the message “Problems with extra white-space”. I read the guide, but still don’t quite understand it, sorry…
I have it set to send the backup directly to Dropbox – is that going to be affected by the bug?
Can someone explain this a bit clearer:
“After downloading from cloud storage to your web server within the UpdraftPlus page, then instead of downloading from there to your computer, instead just log into your FTP account, and look in wp-content/updraft (or, if you changed the default, wherever you configured to store your backups).”
What is the “cloud storage” here – is this the Updraft cloud? When do I download to my server? Sorry, once again – newbie…
    Thanks!

Can you please check if you have extra space at the top or bottom of wp-config.php or your active theme’s functions.php file?

If yes, Can you please remove the white space, save the file and re-run the backup process?

no empty spaces in those files…
Are you able to answer the question – will the files sent to Dropbox be affected?
and also explain your website’s info like I said thanks

    Hi,

    Apologies for the late reply.

No, the backups send to your remote storage will not be affected.
For “cloud storage” we are referring to your remote storage.
Also, try deactivating the other plugins you have. It is possible that the issue is coming from there.

Ah, great news! So – if I send back-ups to Dropbox; and then download from Dropbox to my PC; and then restore that back-up from PC – that would be OK, correct?
(tried the plugins – no luck…)

    @otlichnik73

Sorry for the delay! Yes you can either download from Dropbox to your PC, or you can also download it to your PC from UpdraftPlus > Backup/Restore tab, Click each button (i.e. Database, Themes, Plugins, Others, Uploads).

It will give you option to download the backup set to your computer.

    Thanks,
    Harshad

Thanks! You said “you can also download it to your PC from UpdraftPlus ” – but isn’t that what the problem is, with “empty spaces issue” – it said that if you download from Updraft page, file may be corrupted.
I just want to know if I am safe from the “empty spaces” bug if I send backups to Dropbox.
    Thanks!

    Hi,

The problem does not affect the backing up process, or the integrity of your backups.

So is the process of sending backups to Dropbox affected?
