We have used the wp-cron for importing featured images to increase the speed of the import.
Please make sure the wp-cron is enabled in your wp instances. You can refer this blog configure the same.

The featured images are supported in the FREE version.
Please refer to the blog post and you don’t need any additional paid plugin to enable cron in wordpress.
