    Hello,
I am trying to configure Google Site kit for my wordpress (https://forotic.es).
I install the plugin, activate it and when I go to configure I get the message:
“It looks like your site URL has changed. To continue using Site Kit you will need to reconnect so that your plugin settings are updated with the new URL.”

I hit reset Site kit, follow the steps:

    • select my gmail account
    • It tells me that Site Kit already has some access (7 services).
    • In the Site kit configuration
    • You already have verification (Google has detected that you are a verified owner of ICT Forum.
    • I activate the metrics in my control panel (allow)
    • It tells me that ICT Forum has been added to Search Console

When I finish, it comes back to my wordpress and I get the Site kit screen.
It says: connect service and a selector that says “Account”. I scroll down and I only get the option to “Set up a new account” (the “Full configuration button is disabled).
I click on Configure new account and I get a form (already filled in) with the data:
    Account: ICT Forum
    Property: http://www.forotic.es
    Web data flow: http://www.forotic.es
I click the only available button (Create account), but it does nothing.

I don’t know if it has to do with the url and it makes a mess between “https://www.forotic.es” and “https://forotic.es”.

I don’t know how to fix it.

I have tried uninstalling the plugin and starting over and the same thing happens. I have gone to Google Analytics from my gmail account and created the property by hand but it does nothing.

    Can you help me?

    Hi all,

I have already detected the problem: the url defined in my wordpress site indicated “https://forotic.es” and it should indicate “https://www.forotic.es”.
As soon as I changed it, it connected perfectly.

Hi there @amorancho84, thanks for getting in touch and for sharing all the information you have which is very useful. This does indeed sound to be an issue with the two different versions of your website. I suspect the first time you connected Site Kit it was on the old URL https://forotic.es.

At some stage you have switched to the new URL https://www.forotic.es and tried to connected Site Kit once more but are running into this issue. We have some information on this error on the plugin website. As stated in the documentation, performing a reset of Site Kit by going to Tools > Available Tools > Reset Site Kit should clear your site’s previous URL from Site Kit and allow you to reconnect using the new URL. Note that resetting will cause all previously connected Site Kit modules to be disconnected for all Site Kit users.

If you have already tried resetting this way then please let me know and we can suggest some other steps for you to take. If you have any other questions at this time please feel free to ask these.

Hi, I am facing the same issue, my current domain is http://www.jobshubconnect.com it used to be jobshubconnect.com but my articles were not being crawled as my declared canonical was this- jobshubconnect.com but Google took the previous one. So I had to add www. at .htaccess level. Now the Google site kit is not recognizing my domain claiming I have changed it multiple resets and multiple times I have deleted the plugin same error. Can you please suggest and alternative?
