OK. The only way I can think of dossent seem to work.
I tried to Groupe the two variabled products. But it seems its just possible to group simple products and not variable products 🙁
Any other suggestions is much appreciated.

Seems like Linked products > Cross-Sells is the only way to go.
What you describe is a variable product. It will have two attributes: size and frame. The frame attribute can include the no-frame option.
At product page, Product Data section, set product type to variable.
Set first attribute: Size: A1 | A2 | A3
Set second attribute: Frame : Wood | PVC | None
Save attributes
The click “Link All Variations” to make all the variations.
Next, go through the variations and price each one.

Only “issue” I see now is that my frames (that I also sell as a product separately from the posters) will not “work” with my SKU/Stocks as they are not “represented” as the product together with the posters. But just as an Attribites.
To manage stock I think you’d have to use a group of simple products. This could appear complicated for the customer, and there is no safeguard against a customer buying more than one frame per poster. If all the poster sizes and frame sizes were in one group it gets worse because the customer needs to choose the right size frame for the poster they have picked. I can’t see how you could charge different prices for a frame supplied on its own and a frame supplied fitted to a poster, although for inventory purposes they are the same. On balance the variable product method looks easier for the customer to use.

Yes. Guess ill just have to live without the stock/SKU future and keep my own stock system offline 😉
