    Hi,
Trying to find some help with the woocommerce product search field. It seems to default to searching for the whole term instead of any word which is an issue on the site i’m developing.

I.e. if there is a product titled “ruler 150mm” and someone searches for “ruler 300mm”, it’ll say no products found unless they search for “ruler 150mm” or even just “ruler”.

I would like the search to return results for ‘any’ of the terms entered, not ‘all’ of the terms, so if the ruler size isn’t listed then alternative products with “ruler” in the title will display.

Any ideas? Thank you in advance.

P.s. I don’t sell rulers, just an easy example to use.

    Hi @adejones,

if there is a product titled “ruler 150mm” and someone searches for “ruler 300mm”, it’ll say no products found unless they search for “ruler 150mm” or even just “ruler”.

The default search function normally retrieves products when searching for a single term shared by different products. But when you search for the exact phrase, it won’t find the products if there aren’t products that use exactly that phrase, as you mentioned.

If you’re looking for more advanced search functionality, I can recommend WooCommerce Product Search extension. The Live Search Field allows customers to find products as they type, along with images, price information and they can also add the product directly to the cart.
