Product Type
-
Hi,
Is it possible to add a manually edited product_type to a google feed? (i.e. so I can type in the content individually).
I started by adding the left & right fields as per your instructions, but no new fields have appeared on my product pages.
Thanks

Hi,
To start with your second remark. Our plugin creates product feeds, it doesn’t add anything to your product pages.
I am not sure what you mean by your first question? You can add so-called static values to any field you add. See: https://adtribes.io/how-to-use-static-values-and-create-fake-content-for-your-product-feed/
Not sure if this answers your question?
All the best,
EvaApologies, I didn’t explain myself very well at all. I’ll start again with just one question;
When I first set the feed up, various Google Shopping Attributes were mapped to Product Attributes. These appeared on my product pages where I could fill them in.
To add the Product Type attribute, I followed the instructions in your post https://adtribes.io/how-to-use-static-values-and-create-fake-content-for-your-product-feed/, but this field has not appeared.
What am I doing wrong please?
Hi,
When you want to add the g:product_type to your Google shopping feed it needs to have the format as described on this page:
https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/6324406?hl=enOur plugin automatically adds it to your product feed when you add the following field mapping to your feed configuration:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/uv56puf2tm2992m/g-product-type.png?dl=0Just hit the orange “+ Add field mapping” and you can add the above field mapping.
All the best,
EvaHi Eva,
That’s all working fine thanks. However, if possible, what I’d like to do is add some additional product levels.
I tried mapping g:product_type with Woosea Custom Field 2 (Custom attribute), but that didn’t seem to work.
Is it possible to do this?
Thanks,
WillHi will,
When your products all have some value filled in for the woosea custom field 2 on the product edit pages then it should work fine when you map that attribute to the g:product_type field. The g:product_type field will then hold the values you filled in in the woosea custom field 2 attribute.
What exactly did not work with that?
Best,
EvaHi Eva,
I’ve saved the changes and flushed the caches etc, but Custom Field 2 hasn’t appeared on the product pages – so I can’t fill it in. (All the other have – inc Custom Field 1)
Will
Hi Will,
It really should work. I have just tested it for both simple and variants. These are the steps I took:
First I enabled woosea custom field 2 so it would show on the product edit pages:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/a4f9ywtguhd47zr/enable-1.png?dl=0Then I filled in some values for both simple and variant products:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/pns5jozxgbpk7jc/enable-2.png?dl=0
https://www.dropbox.com/s/78w8o1x5y26wl1o/enable-6.png?dl=0And made sure to map the woosea custom field 2 to the g:product_type field:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/6lmakvstonopk57/enable-4.png?dl=0I then manually reprocessed the product feed. This is the result:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/jdicaxfy2f9nny0/enable-5.png?dl=0
https://www.dropbox.com/s/rc183lvbq67r7hp/enable-7.png?dl=0So I believe it works just fine? Maybe you forgot the first step, to enable the woosea custom field 2 field?
Hope this helps.
