Actually, the product with variation link has a canonical set to the primary URL as below.

    https://www.sticknstuck.com.au/product/cheerleader-on-board-extension-10-x-16-cm-window-decal/

Yoast considers canonical to index instead of URL that consists product variations attributes because it is also good for the product SEO.

Having said that if you still want to fix this, go to your SEO > Search Appearance > Taxonomies settings. Next, for the option to ‘Show Product attribute in search results?’, choose ‘Yes’. This should add the expected links in the sitemap.

    thanks for the reply @suascat_wp
I don’t see the “Taxonomies” setting, is this a Yoast Premium Setting?

All I can see on SEO -> Search Appearance is
    – Categories
    – Tags
    – Product Categories
    – Product Tags
    – Product Shipping Classes

I apologize for the misunderstanding. I just realized that the product attribute sitemap shows links to product attribute taxonomy terms, but there is no way to show direct links to the products with that attribute in any of the sitemaps.

We do have an open feature request to have the ability to include links to the products with the product attributes in the sitemap.

Thank you for suggesting a new feature for one of our plugins! You are actually not the first to have requested this feature! That means a feature request is already created and is currently under review by our product team.

    What’s next?
Our product team will assess feature requests in relation to other open bug reports and new features. Based on their assessment, the feature request will be given a priority level. Our developers work on the highest priority first. Unfortunately, this means we cannot give you an estimate if or when they’ll start working on your request.

I apologize for not having a different solution at the moment.

We are going ahead and marking this issue as resolved due to inactivity. If you require any further assistance please create a new issue.
